One week ago, Aggie Green was a a hero and inspiration to all of Wenilton Regional High. That was a week ago. Aggie was the charismatic leader of the Wenilton High Safety Patrol. It was he who made the hallways safe from fights, outrageous pranks, and extortion of Lunch Money. He had personally turned the tables (literally) on the milk money table at lunch one day. He knew that those in charge of selling milk money were overcharging certain people with underprivileged status, so they could make some extra $ for themselves and their club.
He was the kid who helped weave Nerds, Geeks, Losers, and Ugly people into the social status of school society. This caused a ruckus among the more prominent upper class clicks, that no longer ruled the schools activities. Ugly girls ended up dating those in the football team, and the football players ended up liking them. Nerds ended up getting awards usually denied them due to their nerdy ness. Losers and Geeks ended up getting to sit in the Back of the Bus and ended up getting the closest parking places to the school entrances. Worst of all, teachers and all sorts of students from both low crowd and High Crowd ended up exalting this kid as a role model and inspiration to all. An inspiration to all but the Hip BB's. The Hip BB’s were in charge of the Milk Money Table. Their girls used to date the Football Players. They used to have the best seats on the bus and the best parking places for their cars when they got their licenses. They used to be the most well liked. All until Aggie entered the school. They had tried and tried to bring Aggie down, but his sly humble wit and nice calm demeanor had shot a whole into their smugness time and time again. Finally after months of searching and scheming they had found a hole they could blast into his armor. It was brilliant and was guaranteed to insure Aggie a place of dishonor and embarrassment for however long he went to Wenilton High. All they had to do was convince the Adult editor of the School newspaper to print their article. He was feared and respected and hated by many people. He alone had power to make or break anybody. He had 2 teachers fired and 18 kids expelled out of his 3 or so years working as chief editor of the Wenilton High Times. He didn't really care about anyone or anything. Convincing him to hang Aggie and his posse out to dry would be a piece of cake.
'NO', came the answer from Peter's Lips. "Your all a bunch of whiny little cry babies who want your binky when any body steps on your little blankee of pride." He really disliked the Hip BB's. But if Peter was crafty, The Hip BB’s found away to out craft him. A rival underground paper which got recognition as bird cage carpeting, would kill to come out on top in the media world of Wenilton High. They would publish the story without even a 2nd thought to the moral and ethical violations that it would raise. Justice or Power? In charge of the Student newspaper or in charge of letting go of the biggest story of the school year. It wasn’t even completely false, it was just angled the right way to make Aggie look out of focus to the school community. Justice must prevail. And so he decided to print the story because as Peter saw it, it would not be justice to let that little no good piece of trashy literature come out on top. As he printed out his story, the images came.
Now it doesn’t even really matter what the story was. The results were what mattered. The results that happen in the life of Aggie and The visions that came to Peter. Real life-like pictures on some form of a giant TV of the mind. .A man in a robe was handed over to a mob. The man who handed him over had a Roman Toga. This man had the power to either hand him over to the angry mob, or the power to let him go. Peter seemed a little freaked. Especially because for some reason he felt as if he was the man in the roman toga. Which means he handed the man in the robe over to the mob.
The visions continued to come.
Aggie got the stigmata of scorn from the school community.
The man in the robe was handed a piece of heavy wood.
All of the members of Aggie’s Safety Patrol quit.
The man in the Robe fell to the ground with the wood.
Aggie continued to look to the picture of his dead mother for moral support.
The mother of the man in the robe, looked at him with motherly concern as he passed by carrying the piece of wood.
A member of the Stamp club was reluctantly assigned to help run the Safety Patrol since al the members had deserted it.
A man chosen from the group of people watching the man in the robe and 2 others carry their pieces of wood along the long dirty road, was chosen to help that man carry his piece of wood.
After a group of boys beat up Aggie, a girl named Betty wiped away the blood left on Aggie's face by the blows from the boys. The memory of Aggies bloody face would forever remained burned in her mind, and would cause her to seek out other acts of kindness towards strangers in the future.
A woman named Veroncia..wiped off the face of the man in the robe with a cloth. An image of his face remained upon the cloth that was used to wipe his bloody face.
Aggie lost the equipment he needed for Safety Patrol
The man in the robe fell for the 2nd time.
The Pity Party Club voted Aggie their ‘Cry of the Week’ award. The Pity Party club found some cause to cry for. They never really ever did anything to help that individual. They thought themselves good hearted if they felt sorry for that person. Aggie told them not to mourn for him, as the school would suffer the consequences of what was happening to him.
The man in the robe said the same things to a group of woman crying by the road side as he trudged along with his piece of wood.
The best of men fall under pressure. All the negativity and threatening letters caused Aggie to have a nervous breakdown.
The man in the robe fell a third time.
Aggie was stripped off his role as leader of the Safety Patrol. Leadership was transferred to the Football team. What a touchdown for injustice, as the Football team had none of the moral fiber to prevent acts of mischief towards other students.
The man in the white Robe was stripped of his white robe.
Aggie was humiliated in front of the whole school during the Wenilton High Football Pep Rally. He was hoping to regain his status with a speech to the school assembly, but ended up nailing the lid to his coffin of dislike and ridicule.
The man who had been carrying the wood was nailed to it. The nails going through his hands and feet.
Aggie was suspended from Wenilton High
The man on the wood died.
Aggie’s father came to pick him up at school to drive him home.
The man was taken down from the wood.
Aggie arrived at his house. It was Friday Afternoon.
The man after being taken down from the wood, was placed in a tomb.
Peter wondered how these visions had occurred simultaneously with the life of Aggie. Many explanations rummaged through his mind. The best one was the craziest. About a week ago, before being approached by the Hip BB’s, he had snuck into the old run down abandon insane asylum. He went searching for whatever. And he came to a room that had been inhabited by the late Dr. I’s. He was (past tense), the local eye doctor in town. He got put in the loony bin after claiming to have invented a pair of contacts that would let a man see the truth of reality in the world around him. He died while in the crazy bin. He died when a guard killed him. Why did he kill him? Because he had supposedly put on the contacts and had seen the truth about the world around him. He obviously didn’t like it very much. He obviously couldn’t take it either, for he went insane himself. That’s when he killed Dr. I’s.
Peter remembered finding something and putting it in his eye. He checked his eyes. Nothing. Peter never remembered taking it out either. Funny . If he did put it in, it obviously worked. But how did it correspond to the man in the Robe who carried the wood. That he could not understand. Not at first that is. Come Monday morning his eyes would be open.
Aggie did not stay expelled for long. Getting rid of Aggie from the Safety Patrol was the same thing as getting rid of the Safety Patrol. This is what Aggie meant when he said to the Pity Party Club, that the school would suffer the consequences. Within the time Aggie got taken off the Safety Patrol, problems around the school had gotten so bad , for lack of another analogy, even the Hip BB’s were afraid to be out in the hall way for fear of getting the snot beat out of them. The amount of vandalism had risen to about the paycheck of 3 of the teacher’s salary. The number of hospital visits had risin 166%. Instead of the principal kicking people out of the school, he was kicked out of the school. With desperate pleading the Hip BB‘s pleaded with Peter to print another article putting Aggie back in a good light. Without much hesitation Peter did so, thus reinstating the principal to reinstate Aggie back in the school and back as head of the Safety patrol. Things went from worse to 200% better.
The dead man placed in the tomb , with a big rock coving it and lots of fierce mean guards guarding Him, had his guardian angel kick the rock away which scared the guards into a dead faint and walked out ALIVE. His body had been beat to a bloody pulp and now was a body full of life and vigor.
Peter then realized what he had seen. It’s the same thing all of us see if we would just open our eyes.
There is so much more of this story that could be told. So many details that have been left out. But as so much space can be used, and only so many words can be used in a short parables. With the end of this tale, realize the truth that Peter realized. Every event that happen to Aggie happen to Jesus. When Aggie suffered, so did Jesus. Jesus walked along the 14 stations of his Cross with Aggie. When Aggie suffered, so did Jesus. Peter realized where he was in the whole thing and where he was standing while Jesus was carrying his cross. He realized where he stood as he hung there with nails in his hands. This connected to the pain he contributed to Aggie.
All of us our standing somewhere around the cross.
Are you standing under the cross mocking Him?
Are you not even under the cross?
Did you runaway, like Jesus Disciples?
Did you betray him like Judus?
Did you sentence him like Pilot?
OR Did you stick around faithfully, suffering in heart like Mary and the woman, and his beloved disciple John..
Whatever you do to the least of your brother’s and sisters, you do unto Jesus..
When we treat others badly, we treat Jesus badly.
Aggie gracefully forgave all who mocked and scorned him and restored Justice to Wenilton High. He even become close friends with a few members of the Hip BB’s. Just as he forgave the students that cast him out of school, Jesus forgives all who cast him out of life, which is you and me. After Aggie was restored to leader of the Safety Patrol so was the school.
Jesus who died and suffered came back to life and because of that brought the opportunity for those who killed him to come back to life.
If we pick up the cross Jesus gives us, it will hurt. But he promises to carry it with us and promises us in the end that we too after dieing to our own will in this life and after our bodies die, we will be resurrected also.
Peter apologized to Aggie for the trouble that he had caused. But Aggie reassured him that everything worked out for good in the end. Aggie explained about what good insight Peter must have gained in the whole experience. Aggie encouraged him to share that experience with others. Peter loved the insight in which he was given. He then knew the next lead story for the School newspaper. Instead of spreading stories causing the destruction of others, he published stories that built others up. This eventually caused more problems with certain individuals. But that’s another parable.
